HDS312 vs SA-12 vs 12's at Price Point Recommendations?

Building a new sub setup hopefully shortly and have been trying to plan everything out. I've had my mind almost set on a pair of Sundown SA-12's. However, I've been a bit closed minded when looking for subs. I'm trying to keep it under $450 for a pair of 12's, and the SA 12's seemed to fit the bill. I'm going to be running with stock 100 amp alt, big 3 done, and hopefully a nice AGM under the hood. I just saw the very comparable HDS312 for cheaper than the SA's with double the handling.

Main goal I'm going for is just SPL, SQ is not a huge deal, although I would prefer it not sound like muddy **** if possible.

What do you guys think would be a good sub to run at this price point?

Was looking at a Crescendo 1500.1. Didn't buy it yet but I'm looking to stay under $400 for my amp, and that's looking like the best deal for the watts

Sometimes it is best to sacrifice some wattage rating for quality.

While the HDS312's are double the RMS, I simply asked because they are like $50 cheaper

Thanks for the good suggestions everyone. I'd also like to try and get some amp suggestions. Looking 1.5k-2k under $400. I know it's a tight budget but there's a few out there that may fit the bill.

That looks really nice, although I've never heard of the brand. If it hits ratings I'd for sure pick it up

Get a single 18 for around $300 and use the extra money to buy a 2k amp.

I only have about 4 ft^3 to work with, so an 18 would be a little constrained. I feel like a pair of 12's would breathe easier
