hdmi cables?

got question and trying not to sound stupid but when pluging one end of the hdmi cable into the tv where does the other end go? into the dvd player? i always thought the point of a hdmi cable was to get a better picture from your cable tv signal?

HDMI is the same as DVI only it carries the digital sound signal as well

your only going to get as good of a picture as your source

if you have a digital HD source then HDMI is the way to go

The second part is true... but DVI can be an analog signal, whereas HDMI is only digital. other than that yes hdmi has sound, dvi doesnt.
And to answer the op.... you have to have a box from say comcast or dish network, then you run the cable between the box and tv... that will increase pic quality.

i have rcn cable service and he gave me some free hdtv channels like sports and a few other channels..plus my tv is 1080p and i gotta admit when i watch sports channels in hdtv its amazing i feel like i can reach out and touch the people..lol
