HDMI cable ruining the video on a 360?

Is this possible? We switch our 360's from room to room frequently, and my roommate just plugged his in and it got the 3 red lights..he went out and bought a new one to just see if it was the HDMI cable that was doing it, and the same thing happened to it..

We both don't know much about what the cables can do if they're bad, but can a bad HDMI cable really ruin the video out on a 360? We also tried both with the regular component hookups, same thing with the lights.

3 red lights is a hardware problem. Not your hdmi. it's toast.

well yeah but if the hdmi was to ruin the video out instantly, wouldn't that still trigger the xbox to show a hardware problem?

3 Red lights is just a general hardware failure, could indicate a number of things

yea i thought the cable failrue was like bottom left 1 or sumthin like that

you would get diff light combination if it was a video card or wire issue

truee, completely forgot about that. his 3rd xbox is working fine, guess it was just bad luck.
