HDC4s or HDDs

Instead of 4 10s Ive decided to do 2 badass 12s. I just sold my 4 wheeler and im going to use the money to go towards a new setup.

2 HDC4 12s (2000 rms) ( D1 only) ($420 each)

2 Tantric HD 12s (1500 rms) ($325 each)

2 Tantric HDD 12s. (2500 rms) ($375 each)

4.0 cubes net to work with.

Amp is most likely going to be an AQ 3500.1

Im going to buy 1 sub at a time and will most likely want to run 1 until I get the other one. But you never know I could be happy with just 1 so it makes it hard to decide on coil configuration.

Buy D1 or D2? Not sure If I should run the 1 D1 at .5 ohm until I get the 2nd one and then run 1 ohm daily or do the opposite and buy D2s and run at 1ohm until I get the 2nd to run at .5 daily.

HDDs going to be more woofer then I need at 2500 rms? Since Ill only be running a 3500? But they are only $50 more then the HDs. So $50 more for 1000 rms more per sub..

Something about the AQ with 4" coils makes me really want them and ive had alot of AQ setups before and been very happy with them. But they are the most expensive.

Id get them in dual 2's and run one at 1 ohm until you get the second one then run them at .5 ohm. I owned the aq hdc4 12's and they were very beastly. I loved those subs. Only thing I dislike about them is them only available in dual 1's. I havent tried the hdd subs but I always wanted to try them.

Your videos are what made me want the HDC4s. Your single HDC4 was making me think I MIGHT just stay with one. Shit was loud!

So you would do HDDs over HDs? $50 is not much for 1000 rms more each sub but ill probably never be able to give them all that power.

No thanks. $550 is out of my price range. Trying to stick to $400 each. How are they only rated 1500 rms?? Aren't the Zv4s going to be 1750rms?

If you're gonna get 2, I'd go with a D1 to start, and run it at 2-ohms, that'd be plenty of power. Then get a second D1 for full 1 ohm power. Unless you have a really killer electrical setup to run a AQ3500 at .5.... If you are getting two, I'd pick the Tantric HD. The pair will be perfect on the AQ3500 at 1 ohm. And the one would be perfect at 2 ohms until you get the second.

If you're only gonna do 1 woofer, I'd go with the Tantric HDD. I still think it'd be best to go with a D1. Wire it at 2-ohms for daily, and .5 ohm for burps if you're competing. I don't think you'll notice much of a difference between 1 and 2 ohms daily, especially considering less voltage drop at 2 ohms.

I guess one D1 at 2 ohms on a 3500 will be fine. 2600 at 2 ohms. If not I could drop it down to .5 and turn down the gain.

Should have 3 100AH in trunk and a 75ah up front with a 270 amp alt.

My thoughts exactly. WORST CASE SCENARIO.... You buy another D1 and have a 1-ohm final //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Doubling cone area will make more of a difference than 1,000w at those levels anyways I think.

I personally have the hdd 15's and they get crazy loud. Really like these subs. But haven't tried the hdc4 so can't really help you on comparison between the 2

You can't go wrong with any of them. HDC3 would probably work fine as well (I say probably because it depends on the box and your experience level).
