hdc312 on a gp3000d-pro

You're gain is cranked too high for that setup period. 3k rms on 117 amp alt.? Add a second battery into this equation as well at least. I honestly doubt that your truck is staying at 14v at full tilt on a stock electrical. It's f*****g the sub everytime you turn it up. f*****g is my new word for clipping because thats the only term people understand.
tilt?? sorry, dont know what that is.

do you have a camera? id be interested to hear your hdc.
something is telling me the sound that makes it seem like the subwoofer is going to blow is what i will call the HDC suspension sound if you see where im going with this...
i think i am following.....your saying it could just be the way it sounds. i have only had it beating for two days and only like 30min total for each day... so maybe it is just breaking in...i do have a camera. it is a little dark out considering it is midnight, but i will take some photos and videos tomorrow and post them... ill just take pictures of everything to give you an idea where i stand...

could there be a problem with power if the ground connection is not strong enough.. i have it screwed into the back wall of my dakota, but the wall is colored (indicating its painted) that i did not sand down...
I dont think this is your only problem, But in my dakota, My amp did not like being grounded to the body. Use a direct frame ground. And it does sound like you're clipping the amp. Although it could be the suspension sound that has seem to become common on the HDC's

a question i have that i have never been able to have answered is: when the amp is clipping, will the sub actually sound louder, just not as good? or would setting the gains properly (not just cranking them) make the sub louder???

It may not be as loud if they are set correctly, but it will function fully and make for a good substage day in and day out. If you continue to clip the sub, there will be consequences.

i am beginning to think that my electrical needs to be upgraded. im thinkin grounding to the metal frame (not body), getting atleast a 220amp alt and going with a kinetic hc2400 (in back or just replace the the stock under hood??) and then set the gains accordingly after i complete this?? or what are some suggestions to correct clipping (if infact that is what i am doing)

or maybe everything is fine and the sound, i think is bad, is the suspension. and i just cant turn it up too much louder cuz i cant handle it. maybe its a sound that the truck is making, an flex or rattle of some sort?? i dont know, i just really need someone to look at it. so i will try to post vids tomorrow..

your electrical does not need to be upgraded if your voltage stays at 14v.

if that amp really pulls 300A, with a stock electrical at full tilt, you should be NO WHERE NEAR 14V when the bass hits.

yeah those are my thoughts EXACTLY. but i have never had it at full volume. the gain is at about 70% now and i turn it up to about 32/42 (with h/u bass at +2) and bass boost on the amp at 0. and when i play gorilla zoe money man, and it hits pretty hard....and very very minimal voltage drop....(and i know the gauge is correct, cuz my headlights would show it.) so it is OBVIOUSLY not getting enough amps to put out the full 3000watts rms (i wouldnt think)
