what do you all mean by suspension problems?

if i remember it correctly... they had a batch of 18's that went out with faulty spiders... dont quote me on it, cuz the most you really heard was "suspension problems"... but i'm almost certain they were faulty spiders

you've heard wrong... alot of people are just talking ish about AQ now, because they had one bad batch of suspensions from a company they had contracted to build... they have since addressed the issue, and are back up and running. thats the reason that alot of their subs were on back order for a while.. so they could address the issue.
bottom line is, the guys over at AQ do everything they can to put out a quality product... but when your running a buisness, sometimes there are things you just cant for see... not trying to nuthug here... just sick of everyone bashing on a good company because of one little hiccup

ive never had any problems out of mine. my spiders are still tight and everthing and im over powering my subs rms and its fine. i think i smelled it one time when i was playing at like 25hz

I have only heard fi once or twice and their fine. I own 2 AQ and the only bad thing is they do not like low tuning but will play low. Just food for thought about the AQ suspension.. I haven't seen a blown AQ yet on this forum but u can see multiple fi's toast.. Just saying.

yea, the only thing is that they are building them to order now, so it might take a lil bit longer for you to recieve them. but i wouldnt worry about any suspension issues with them now

Based on the information in the initial post, the BL is the best route to go with.

I have 2 18" BL's tuned to 27 hz, lows I have plenty of. Wish I could've gotten Q's, but the BL's will still get low.

do you find that the aq is peaky in a box that small? does it lack much low end?

I've owned 2 HDC3's, 1 Fi Q, and 2 Fi BL's.

HDC3 were good woofers, I just like Fi's better, they tend to play lower imo. Better sound quality imo.

Well the suspension problems gave them a nice black eye!!!

:-/. I even gave up a HD motor cause of it...

to who ever had the BL and said there friend "blew" like 3 or 4 times, prolly don't know what F there doin!!!

I have a Q on a mmats dhcx2200 with Z E R O issues....

I have owned a BL and now i have a Q. The sound quality on the q is better but the bl was a bad *** sub also. A Bl with flatwinds will take a lot of abuse. I would take either the BL or Q but im a FI guy so thats just my 2 cents.
