hdc3 18s are in!

and Fish uses Trupan which is much lighter then MDF. More like the weight of BB. Nice looking set up. Give the subs some time to loosen up a little and you should have more lowend output

they actually should already be broken in, i bought them slightly used. well, traded for my kicker kx2500. they still get more than low enough for me, i'm satisfied.

picked up a d3100, it should be here around thursday, next weekend i'll put it and the mla in.

i'll try and get a couple tomorrow before work (2nd shift). i have this pic of my old 31 series yellow top in the same location, with the seat removed and before the battery was mounted.

i've got a 9518g motor/basket, and an optima yellow top g31 i'd sell ya cheap. still have that alumapro alc 6.2 component set too. i also have a couple of bj fisher built, pete kulicki designed ported boxed taking up space in my garage... one for an 05 xxx 18 designed for flat response, another for the 9518 designed to get piss loud, both 41 inches wide. what happened to the q 15 i sold you?
let me know if you're gonna be in wichita and want to have a listen to it sometime.
dang, i'm in the market for some comps and possibly a battery, we'll see how bad i dim after i do the big three. don't really need any boxes as i build my own. the Q was retired because i missed having some spare room in my back seat so i replaced it with the stuff thats in my sig. but i miss the output so its going back in with a smaller box and a different amp (zx1000.1).

Sheet of MDF weighs in around 90-100 lbs, depending on the manufacturer. Trupan comes in at like 74 lbs, IIRC (Id have to check for sure). I would imagining you are in the 150-170lb range on the box alone.

You aren't intelligent enough to make it do both? I feel for you.
Haha, that makes no sense really. Could we have fit in under? Sure.

Would we be at the correct specs? No.

Personally, if you are dropping this much cash on a setup built to be loud, Ill take performance over appearance anyday.

copper coils. can see the roof flex in the video, although the camera didnt pick up all of it. i'd say in the center, it's moving close to an inch on low notes. the copper coils probably wouldnt like much more than what i'm giving them... i think they're seeing around 2200 each, i wouldnt really want to put more than 2500 each on them. hard to say though, i have only smelled coil when i started clipping the amp.

no numbers yet, dont know anyone local with a meter. based on the setups i've heard before that have been metered, including one that did 148 on music in the same vehicle, i'd say right around 150 on music, with a tl on the dash sealed up.

anyone know anyone in the southern kansas/northern oklahoma region with a tl? i would definitely like to get metered and get something more solid than just how loud it sounds to me.

Looks good, a friend of mine has the same subs on a AQ 2200D and they hit really hard. Let me know how that MLA module works out, I am considering one for my van. Can you regulate the voltage with those modules?, I thought you are not supposed to run more then 14.5 volts into a AGM battery.

i dont think them being agm has anything to do with the voltage they can handle. there are 16v agm batteries. mine are 12v batteries, and 14.4 would be the normal charge for them. i know when i would start my truck on a really cold morning, i would show low to mid 15s before i had the mla module, the other day when it was 20 or 25 degrees i was showing 15.8/9 with the mla installed. normally, its at 15-15.5 when the weather is more reasonable. i know there are a lot of people running mla modules at 15.3 with 12v batteries with no issues, so i'm not worried about it.

you can't regulate the voltage, but you can order it to be a custom voltage. i like it, but its not a fix for voltage drops or anything. i was dropping to mid 12s before when i'd clip the amp, and still do. i have my gain set just past where the AC voltage starts jumping quickly and my DC voltage starts dropping, which is where i imagine the amp starts clipping. with most music, and my head unit at 55/62, i turn the remote gain knob up to about 3/4 to get full, clean output. i'll hold at low-mid 14s there while driving, if i take it much further it will rapidly go to mid-high 12s, depending on the type of music, duration of bass notes, frequency, etc. so it doesnt magically give your batteries more reserve power or anything, it just raises the charging voltage a hair. for the price ($170) honestly, i probably would have skipped it and put that cash towards a third d3100, since i'll probably have to remove one of the rear seats and build a battery rack anyway, but oh well.
