HC or XXX

He is basically saying, if you want extreme output with decent/good sound quality with cheap cost go with the dual HC.

However If you want excellent sound quality with less output for more money go with the XXX.

Each HC can move 44.2mm LINEAR.

That's 4.42cm of LINEAR p-p excursion.

RE says that the HC 15" has a cone area(SD) of 810cm2.

4.42cm X 810cm/1000 = 3.58L of linear displacement, that means that 2 HC's can move 7.16L of air, while remaining linear.

The XXX, has an Xmax of 58mm(or 5.8cm), p-p.

5.8cm X 810cm2/1000= 4.7L of linear displacement.

The HC's will move 2.46 more litres of air while remaining linear.

Ah, it all makes sense now. Thanks for clearin' that up DR. Think I'm going to go w/ the HC, due to the price, and I don't need amazing sound quality, just good SQ with good SPL. Suggestions: 1x 12"...or 2 x 12"???

If you need to know what kind of vehicle, it's a 96 mustang, coupe.

Thanks,

Cameron

A JBL 1200.1 would be good if you're on a really tight budget. 10cubes net, 100-120sq" tuned 30-34hz should do quite well, even though they're "only" getting around 700w per. You could later add another JBL in the future(or buy 2 right now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif )

If you wanted a single amp solution(which eliminates the need to match the gains and the checking you have to do to make sure they're the same) look at the DEI 2400d/Viper d2500.1, an XTR PRO 2400d which you might be able to find on ebay, or even an Orion 2500d @ .5ohms. Make sure your electrical system is up to par.

hey i am also in the same predicament(spellcheck?). i have an awt15x now and wanting to upgrade to a xxx or 2 hc's (all 15's). i have a 96 xtend cab truck with no back seats so i got plenty of room also. i have a concept 2400a, 2400 X 1 @ 1 ohm,. what would work best with my amp, 2 hc's or an XXX.

oh yea how much would 2 hc's be?

Where Can I Get Some Hc Subs For 150?
I think RE has a deal on their 12s and 15s... I think you can get the 12's for 300 for 2. You can't buy just one for 150.00, you gotta get 2 too get the deal...
You gotta call them direct if there are no RE dealers in your area..

**** you have a lot of room for a mustang. i assume you are taking the back seat out and building the box up to the front seats?? anyway, if you haven't bought already yes 2 HC's are better than 1 XXX. i was looking at getting 2 HC's but to me i'd rather spend the $$ on a 2nd D2 which to me is a much better sub all around. amp wise all depends on $$ and what kind of electrics you have. i really do hope you've got at least 160-200 amps of current if you plan on running over 1500-2000 for daily. either way that's gonna be fun upgrading that man.
