Having Problems

My System:

Panasonic CQ-VD7003U

DD M1

DD C2

Diamond HEX s600

15" TC3k

My Problem:

My amps protect lights come on for like a second, then they turn off. the eq only has a power light and that does not come on at all.

I installed this system like 6 months ago. 3 weeks ago, it cut out on me. i had no idea what it was, but determined it to be the remotes, so i put a relay on em and they worked fine. a week later, my highs began to cut out as i drove. then one day a week ago, i turn on my car, and nothing happens. idk what it is.

i checked all my fuses, non are blown. the HU comes on fine and plays cd/radio/ipod. i'm stumped. i ran a dmm and discovered my power wire has about 10v on it (car off) and about 5v on it (car on) no music plays, no amps turn on, notta. i took out my HU and found one of my RCA's had come a little bit out (i assume reason for highs cutting out?) but nothing else was amiss.

idk what to do. absolutely any help would be much appreciated

no fuses are blown

my ground is extremely tight and well done

all RCA's are tightened

If your power wire is only showing 5v that is a problem. Could be a weak fuse. Could be a bad battery or fuse connection. As to why you get less voltage when you start the car? That is also a problem. Probably bad alternator.

well here's a few things (thanks for the response)

1. i've replaced my ANL fuse and my remote wire relay with entirely new ones, but nothing changed.

2. i assume my power wire is fine all the way to the trunk and to my amps bc the power wire reads above 10 volts at my speaker amp, my sub amp, and at my eq (with the car off). once the car is on, voltage drops.

3. my alternator better not be bad, my car has 45000 miles on it. it doesn't whine or anything, granted i'm no mechanic, but i assume it's ok.

I would take the fuse out of you power wire and then get your battery and alternator tested. Then go from there.

Edit: Is it showing 10v and then 5 volts at the battery? On both the power and remote leads at the amp? Do they read the same?

(all car off) battery terminals read 12.66 car off -- power wire before and after the inline fuse reads roughly 12.6 -- power wire leads at amps and eq read around 12 -- remote is 0.00 (car off) -- remote (car on) reads like 4 volts at the amps/eq

(all car off) battery terminals read 12.66 car off -- power wire before and after the inline fuse reads roughly 12.6 -- power wire leads at amps and eq read around 12 -- remote is 0.00 (car off) -- remote (car on) reads like 4 volts at the amps/eq
So the remote reads 4 volts and you are getting 12 at the amps or 10 at the amps? Im confused where the 10v and 5v were tested at?

just went and measured (car on) --- battery reads 13.9 (my voltage has never been any higher than that) ----- before and after inline fuse reads 13.9 volts --- distrobution blocks read 5 volts --- amps read 5 volts

i'm stumped....these readings would lead me to believe my power wire is messed up. that's not the case obviously bc with the car off, the power wire carries the full voltage all the way to the amps.

So with the car off you are getting higher than 5v to the amps? That is strange. Sounds like a fuse or wire may be loose in the d-block. What are the remote wire readings at the amps and on the output of the relay?

my bad i meant power wire leads at amps and eq read 10, not 12 with the car car off....with the car on, they read 5 volts

remote wire (car on) --- 2.00

remote wire (car off) --- 0.00

battery (car on) ---------13.9

battery (car off) --------- 12.6

power wire before inline (car on) --- 13.9

power wire before inline (car off) --- 12.6

power wire after inline (car on) ----- 13.9

power wire after inline (car off) ----- 12.6

power wire at distros (car on) ------- 5.5

power wire at distros (car off) ------- 10.0

power wire at amps (car on) --------- 3.0

power wire at amps (car off) --------- 10.0

just took those, hopefully that helps....although for me, it makes no sense. for some reason im losing voltage in my power wire between my inline and my distros, BUT only when the car is ON???

Ok. 0 volts on remote wire is one problem. May have blown the remote lead on the back of your deck.

Losing volts when car is on. Interesting problem. Can you physiccally see and move every inch of your power wire? You may need to take off sill plates and back seat, etc to be able to do this. Make sure its not grounding out somewhere. Could also be a bad connection into the d-block or fuse. What gauge wire are you running in and out of fuse block? What amps are you running?

Yeah 2v is extremely low. That wont even turn the amps on.

Follow your power wire and make sure you can follow it and move it freely. Check connections on d-blocks since there is no fuses.

Make sure the power wire isnt getting smashed between the rack and the box. Or under the box. Or the box and board d-blocks are on.

You have pics of your ground?
