Having problems with Ipod Touch

I just got this Ipod touch for free from a buddy. He took it from someone who owed him money.

Then that person just said keep it.

Is there a way to download apps without an account and password? I went to download a free app. And it asks for it?

If not how to I create a password and account?

you go to apples website and get an itunes account.

your gonna have to connect to a computer but before connecting make an itunes account be sure youre logged in plug in ipod and it will recognize your account on ipod and you can update from that too.
