MA Audio FTL.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/thumbsdown.gif.d22f25895e9b40f2300c953691dacfa2.gif

They are showing you 17 volt power ratings to inflate their output. In general, the more voltage that is fed to an amp the more wattage it will put out, especially with an unregulated power supply. Your vehicle will put out 14.4volts at most without doing major vehicle modifications that 99.99% of people into car audio will never need.

Power Acoustik, while not the best brand by any means, is still a good budget brand and will be much better than any MA-Audio overrated POS amp.

This amp will put out close to if not all of its 1000 watts rms @ 2ohms

wire your voice coils in paralell and you should be good to go!

edit: it looks like the site I got those numbers from lied to me at its actually 800 @ 2ohms according to sound domain. Its still a good choice though.

POLKAT is correct.

Those HK-series MA Audio amps give power ratings that can be achieved if you are able to feed the amp on 17vdc. Your average vehicle's charging system makes between 13.8 and 14.4vdc at any RPM above idle when running.

Without making the aforementioned modifications you'll never be able to send that amp 17 volts and consequently will never be able to get that level of output from it.

MA's ratings are not a lie, per se, but it's a marketing gimmick that more than a few people fall prey to. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like you are in the same boat that I was in a couple months ago trying to find a decent 1000w rms sub amp for under $200 shipped. I ended up going with a used Directed 1100d for about $140 which ended up needing a bit of repair so if I had do do it all over again I would have bought new.

If I remember correctly MA-Audio is made by the same company that makes Audiobahn. If you don't know about the distain for Audiobahn on this forum you soon will.

Power Acoustic also now makes Soundstream. Soundstream was one of the elite amp companies back in the mid 90's but eneded up going bankrupt and taken over by PA. While they are no longer in the elite of amp companies. They are still solid amps for the most part.

Trying to find 1000w @ 2ohms is going to be pretty tough without spending $250-$300. You can get close to that for under $200

prolly the best of the bunch that people will reccomend is the Phoenix Gold x600.1

They are rated at 600 watts @2 ohms but alot of people have ones that are ~850 watts on the amps birthsheet.

Some other amps that would be solid choices:

only thing is its a refurb: http://cgi.ebay.com/CADENCE-Z5000-750W-MONOBLOCK-HIGH-CURRENT-AMP-FAC-REF_W0QQitemZ9738034138QQihZ008QQcategoryZ18797QQssPageNameZWD1VQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

People say kenwood is POS and while that may be true for their normal line, their Excelon line is great stuff:

Hopefully that will help you out and good luck!
