Happy Birthday Atomic Bomb!

Yea, I remember hearing about those deaths, definitely tragedies. I know the F117 was somewhat unreliable in testing but it has turned out to be great, so I guess a rough test period doesn't equate into a bad design.
Indeed, and the nighthawk is what....50 years old? I sure as hell hope they have the bugs worked out, haha. I'm just waitin to get my hands on the F35 when it comes out and I'm done with ocs and flight. That thing, is pure badassness //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

You get to mess with a Raptor at all?

Nope, but I've seen a couple. They're heavily gaurded and way out in BFE middle america for protection. Couple months ago, 2 were diverted here cause they were low on fuel. Needless to say they had 24hour armed gaurd and the pilots were transfered for putting the aircraft in danger. Air force doesnt screw around with a billion dollar aircraft.

Werd. Funniest thing about that story is that the pilots are rarely anything less than a Lt. Colonel, Major, etc. So for the day we had 2 higher level brass walkin around. Well, they happened to cross paths with our Sargeant Major (Usually an older, salty, crusty marines, I.E. the best/worst kind. 2nd highest enlisted rank in the Marines; these men can tell generals what to do. Just that respected of a man). The cocky Major walks past the SGTMJR and our SGTMJR doesnt salute him. So the major turns around immediately, calls out our sargeant major to salute a superior officer, and without pause our SGTMJR says, "I'll salute one when I see one." Dude turns around and walks off and the MJR doesnt say a thing. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I hate when people talk in ranks, I have no clue what rank is where and who is higher than who, lol. That is a funny story but in the Major had decided to go higher with it couldn't the Sargent Major have gotten into trouble?

Read the book "American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer" by Kai Bird for a fine read on how the atomic bomb came to be. It's one of the best historical books on the subject I've read and should be found at most libraries.
