Well I knew the business VERY well, being that I grew up learning a lot about it. I know a good amount mechanics, I do all my own work, have rebuilt my bike etc... Even though I didn't even talk to people on the lot...I was rarely there. Why would I need to be there????

and to answer your second question, I am still doing it, consider car's are still there and selling.

I am going to search the CA state code on purchase of automobile to see if this is true. In most states, a title is considered a contract and thus enforceable to a minor.
You set up the savings account all by yourself? Did your parent's bank their? Rules may have changed, but from my experiences, accounts are held in custodial or UGMA & UTMA accounts until the person reaches 18.

I am 1000000% sure you can own a car prior to turning 18. Unless like you said laws changed.

They told me as long as I have the 100 minimum balance to open the account then I could do it.
