The 1st one was fun on multiplayer, but no XBL. You could only have 4 people split on one screen unless you had multiple TVs. 1. I only have one TV in my "playroom" and 2. I hate playing a game on a 6" x 6" screen. Xbox Live is the only reason I bought the game. It's so popular you never have a problem finding a game, but there are several shortcomings:
1. REPETITIVE, JUST LIKE THE FIRST ONE. The single-player levels are SO darn repetitive it drives me insane. The indoors levels are absolutely BORING and you see room after room that looks the same. Outdoor levels are amazing. I love driving the vehicles. And indoors, there are some times where I can't find my way out. Or you sit there shooting dumbass aliens for 15 minutes before a door opens. Then you go into another room that looks exactly the same and shoot more aliens that look just the same for 15 more minutes. THEN you finally go outside where the real action is at. If they could do away with all indoor levels, this game would be great.
2. Yeah, waiting 3 minutes to get into a 3 minute game on LIVE. Then after the matchmaking game, you are booted out unless you get on the host's friends list and come back in. And you can never join your friends' games because they are all in matchmaking. You need to be able to enter matchmade games and the host should be able to keep the people in the room, if he chooses, after each game is over (without having to add them to his friends list).
3. If you are within 10 feet of someone with a sword, you can’t do $hit! You have no chance, just bend over and take it. It’s retarded.
4. I never was a fan of alien shooters. I have having to waste a whole clip (or two) into somebody to kill them. And if I shoot someone in the head with a rifle, they should die the first shot, not the fourth or whatever. I need to get Ghost Recon 2. I should enjoy that much better. I was raised on FPS shooters with Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six 3. Halo 2 just isn't my style.
5. Thank god for warthogs. I am a driving fanatic and I love driving the warthogs in this game. The physics are fun to play with. Jumping, rolling, smashing into ghosts head-on and blowing them up, it's all a ton of fun. I'm the guy that's praying Forza Motorsport will come out earlier than February 1st.
That's my take.
