Had a scare with my HU earlier...

I was driving to my girlfriend's house and had on some Tupac I believe it was. All of a sudden, my fronts stopped workin and for a second or 2 it was just bass. I turned it down and the entire deck shut off and wouldn't turn back on. When I got to her house I popped it out and disconnected the harness, RCA's, and Antenna to get a look at all the wires. Being that I was at my girlfriend's house, I decided to leave the deck on my seat and get back to it when I left.
Needless to say, it was on the back of my mind all night. When I went to leave, I checked all the wires and nothing had came loose. So I hooked it back up again and slid it back into place. Then I cranked it up and... It came on! Gave me no problems the rest of the night! Yes!

Any one else have a scare like this that made your life flash before your eyes?

Nope but I've had it happen to an amp, but a fan resolved all of that.

vent itIf you have a CD pocket cut a hole in it and mount it so the pocket it on top venting up

Thx eldorado, I actually took it out and put it back in and its been fine ever since.

to keep it from shutting off, wite the contacts on the faceplate and the cd player with alcohol pads... as for overheating, how much free space do you have around it?

I don't remember, i reinstalled it and it hasn't done it since even in the florida sun, thx for the alcohol pad info though i definately need to do that.

My Alpine's internal amp (9831) goes out when running at round 3/4 volume or higher...scared/pissed the shit out of me first time it did it. Disconected the battery and reconected it and it would work again....carried a wrench in my car just in case from then on....

Lesson: Amp your highs FTW!!! I do now lol...I was going to anyways...
