Had a scare with my HU earlier...

I was driving to my girlfriend's house and had on some Tupac I believe it was. All of a sudden, my fronts stopped workin and for a second or 2 it was just bass. I turned it down and the entire deck shut off and wouldn't turn back on. When I got to her house I popped it out and disconnected the harness, RCA's, and Antenna to get a look at all the wires. Being that I was at my girlfriend's house, I decided to leave the deck on my seat and get back to it when I left.

Needless to say, it was on the back of my mind all night. When I went to leave, I checked all the wires and nothing had came loose. So I hooked it back up again and slid it back into place. Then I cranked it up and... It came on! Gave me no problems the rest of the night! Yes!

Any one else have a scare like this that made your life flash before your eyes?

Did you set your gains correctly? Maybe you had it up too loud and the amp clipped and went into protection.
Possibly, but that doesn't explain why his deck shut off.

Do you have large voltage drops? If you fall below a certain amount volts (around 10) the electronics in your car will more than likely shut off. It happened to me one night when I installed my new amp. However, this does't explain why you still had bass...

Yeah, you can install a product as good as you want. But that doesn't mean it won't give you shit, or it won't fail.
that didnt sound like a product failure. sounds more like the install was faulty.

there was once a time where my alpine pretty much froze up.. it would power on and and the disaply was all lit up but the CD wouldnt play at all and no sound would come out and pressing buttons on the head unit did nothing at all. it wouldnt even switch to TUNER mode.. it was like a veggie. then i unplug the harness from it and plug it back in and everything is OK. it happened maybe two more times since then in a year but unplugging it does the trick. the first time i was sweating bricks, though.

yea, i had one deck do that to me like two years after it was installed. then i just hit the reset button and it was all good.

My faceplate on my headunit randomly shuts off when you touch it , and sometimes My H/u overheats and will only send a signal to my amp causing only bass. (definately overheating i take the cd out and its scorching.) how can i stop my h/u from overheating?
