I usually dont mention company's service, because I personally think that any company should have a par level of service to begin with on a professional level.

Ive come to find out that not many companies in the audio game have that professionalism (I think a few of mods here and friends online know what companies im taking about who arent quite professional //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ) ... But Phil of HO Alternators was nothing but great, he treated me like a competitor should be treated and I have only the highest praise. I just paid for the custom built alternator on the 18th and here it is the 24th (after DHL couldnt find my house for a day, so it was actually supposed to be here on the 23rd. Phil was concerned that I get the alternator in for the MECA finals so he put a rush to build it. From our conversation I thought that id get it like 2 weeks from now, but now and behold it showed up! As you can see in the pics below, the alternator itself isnt very flashy, which is fine for me since Jeep Cherokee's have the alternator under the engine anyways so it cant exactly be seen. Ive bought quite a few alternators in my time, but this one is sleek and simple, and just how I like it.

This model is adjustable 13-20 volts at 200 amp, 120 amp idle ... I couldnt get a bigger alternator in my jeep in the stock location so this will have to do, but I have no complaints. Anyways, the moral of the story is if you're interested in a great company to deal with, HO is great. Originally Steve Milton of Digital Designs turned me on to HO Alts... I DID shop around first, Excessive Amperage wouldnt ever answer the phone, Powermaster was out of their mind and completely rude over the phone, and Iraggi is out of the question. So im pretty happy with my choice, I couldnt get one shipped to me any faster than HO alternator could provide. Plus they ACTUALLY checked my competitor stats and made sure I wasnt some turkey trying to get a free ride, instances like that makes me feel like my years of hard work being a active competitior didnt get wasted.

Anyways, here are the pics of the Alty I ordered, with external regulator. I also included the hook up diagram of it so you can see how really easy it is to install.

If your interested, contact HO at 563-323-7994 , their website is down for some odd reason so i figured id supply the number to anyone who is interested.

is it safe to run 20voltes off of one battery or would you have to add another battery?

The instance that you would run 20 volts is when, and only when you are doing a burp in competiion just for a few seconds, then turn it back down to an acceptable voltage afterward. So even using one battery would be fine for this limied period of time that the voltage is so high. Very good question though.

Well, im looking for a new Alternator and i was looking at Irragi's. Why are they out of the question? They make a 200amp alt that does 170amps at idle. You can get them off of ebay for $329.

Lets say I were to get an alternator w/ the adjustable external regulator and I was running an Orion 2500D. What would be a good voltage to set the regulator at?

Well I wont go into Iraggi's stuff, there are plenty of threads about his alternators on this website, just do a search and do some reading first....then that price might not look so reasonable.... I also wont go into what I paid for my alternator, but it isnt much more than what Iraggi's asking for his generic ones.

If you're just running a daily application, then 14-15 volts is just fine for you....if you plan to do a burp, you need to get some time in on the termlab with your setup and try different voltage settings.
