http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/90-95-NEW-CHEVY-TAHOE-GMC-YUKON-H-O-ALTERNATOR-250-A_W0QQitemZ130043955800QQihZ003QQcategoryZ33573QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

is there such thing as the alt. being too large? i dont need an alt. this big at the moment but plan to upgrade my system in the future and dont want to have to buy another alternator. right now i am only running a couple of those xplods with the 1200w amp...so im definetly upgrading soon //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif ...

thanks

so do you think it will hurt it by having that large of an alt. when not necessary?
actually it can.... if an alt creates TOO much volts/amps... it is possible that it can potentially harm the electrical system... electric devices such as a/c blowers and what not CAN fail.... but u get the drift.... im not saying that WILL happen but things like that are possible....

an alternator only puts out amps when it is asked to, not constantly, so if you have an alt that will do up to 200 amps, and the system only needs 100 amps, all the alt will do is 100 amps. mostly all ho alts have a built in regulator or use the car's regulator to charge at 13-14.4 volts. i currently have a 250 amp alt and no amps hooked up.
