would that be able to support at least 5k?

The 270a alt will work great for 5k, you will want to add a battery to your set up though if that has not already been done. Mechman does make a 370a for $675 but I dont think you need that big of an alt for a 5k set up.

 
Yeah, with a 270A alt and those batts you will be fine. Mechman does make a 370a though if you are planning on going bigger in the future.
I mean id like to run a 7k setup in the future but for now id just like to upgrade to 5k and a second fi sp4

 
Can get ya a brand new Mechman 270a alt for $425 shipped.

agreed, I had this alt for about 4 years. literally just sent it back to them to get it reworked. great customer service. and I had a very average battery, big three and 2500 watts and no dimming or anything. never low voltage, even when idling.
