GSP vs Johny Hendricks

Anyone else a UFC fan? What's your opinion? Personally, I'm worried GSP will take him down and lay on him for five boring rounds like always. GSP is going to beat him easily - just like everyone else in the last 4 years!

the only GSP fight worth while would be GSP vs Silva. GSP is just too much of a student for anyone in his current weight class to handle. Silva is enough of a monster on feet to make GSP have to change his strategy mid fight.

The problem is that Silva is huge for him, GSP's frame is too small for middleweight, he can put on muscle - but not reach.

I personally don't wanna see Silva and GSP. As said above GSP walks around at 193 and Silva anywhere from 210-220. Its just to big of a disadvantage for GSP and I don't see this fight doing anything for either guy just for the media.

And people say that GSP is just boring is aggravating to me. He exploits the fighters disadvantage and does this the entire fight. Yea he doesn't go out there and just throw haymakers, but he is technically sound in how he fights leaving little openings. Thats why he has defended his belt the amount of times he has, and thats why people like Hardy, Koscheck, Leben, etc don't last in the sport as true contenders. Love it, hate it he is the smartest fighter out there and as someone that trains in the sport it is something I truly respect

Silva would eat him alive, I think Silva Vs Jones would be an interesting one personally.

I can't argue your point about GSP though, he takes no risks, he fights very smart and very well. I respect the amount of control he has, but it is boring as hell and really disappointing from a spectator point of view.

I really agree with everything you said. I would love to see Joves and Silva fight. I think this would be a tough fight for Jones for many reasons

I think Jones takes it easily to be honest, he's a genetic freak and very good at Silva's biggest weakness: Wrestling.

I disagree. I think Silva's stand up and illusiveneas is too much. Just look at when Machida faught Jones. Jones had trouble striking or engaging with him. Also, Jones leaves his front leg out really wide. A Muay Thai fighters dream.

Could Jones beat Silva, absolutely. But on paper I think it's a tough fight for him

I guess I see GSP's style of fighting very technical. He has proven that his wrestling is top notch. He has proven that he can stand up and fight. He has also proven that his Ju Jitsu and grappling is one of the tops in the UFC. Can't dislike the man because he doesn't punish his opponent in the ring. He just does what is needed to win. I have been a GSP fan for quite a while. All due to his modesty and his politeness. GSP is a TRUE class act.

Yeah but totally different styles - look at what happened between Sonnen and Silva 1, if it wasn't for a desperation triangle in the last 30 seconds Sonnen would have beaten Anderson - watch how much Sonnen gets clowned in his upcoming fight with Jones.

 

MMAth isn't infalliable by any means - but the reason Sonnen came so close to upsetting Anderson was the wrestling - Jones has a tremendous reach compared to Sonnen, is a better wrestler, and much more explosive athletically.

 

There's a reason Anderson is saying he never wants to fight Jones.

I am with you here. He does actually punish his opponents in the ring. It may not always look like he demolished their face but when he continues to dominate them in every aspect of the fight it takes it toll on ppl mentally, and that is how he "demolishes" them. Just look at everyone that has been a contender for the belt, and look at what they have done since they have lost to GSP.

He's a world class true mixed martial artist.

Just to point out that Silva had a cracked rib going into the fight with 1st fight with Sonnen and Sonnen was also hyped up on roids. But I do agree Jones is a freak of nature, I mean 84" reach is insane, but he has a harder and harder time cutting to 205, what happens if the fight goes deep where he isn't just laying on someone pounding them. You can say what you want but when you cut a tremendous amount of weight it affects your cardio. The closest striker to Silva that Jones has seen is Machida, and Machida actually frustrated Jones and wore him out standing up. I mean we can talk about it but what it comes down to is who imposes their will when the cage closes. Getting punched in the face changes the entire game
