ground wire getting warm

I've got a perfect ground.. Just repaired the ground wire because it was melting to my JL 1000/1 amp. Trimmed it up, got it fixed. That was a week ago.

Tonight i start noticing that my ground wire is getting really warm again. It makes the outer covering of the wire almost strechy. I can pull up on the grey outer plasic of it... What could be the problem here...

The ground wire going to the amp is all 0 gauge right?

no 4 gauge. JL's wont accept 0 gauge.

It's 0 gauge running to the distribution block.. 4 gauge from there.

High Current = Heat. Heat= energy loss. Clamp your amp with a DMM capable of reading DC, most are AC, and see if you have any funky numbers.

how long of a 4ga run do you have?

make shure your connections are tight and solid.

thats usually a sign of a loose connection somewhere.

ok im going ot go out there and tighten the connection down. I'm pretty sure its solid though...

i just stripped the fvcking allen wrench heads in my god **** amp. down i can't even screw the **** thing. is it ruined now?

you can use a small easy-out that fits that allen head screw.

if it's set screws like i think, you can take a good one to hardware store and they should be able to help you, if you cant get the striped screw out anyway you may have to drill it out, just be careful..

and next time, use the correct size allen wrench so this dose not happen again.

I did use correct size. just tightened to hard.

and we ended up drilling it out successfully.

get 1/0 gauge reducers...u can put 1/0 gauge on any amp
