Ground question

Do you think it would be alright to take the ground I am using for my battery and connect that negative terminal on the battery to make another ground for my amp?

Let me try saying it again. I want to take my battery's negative terminal connect some wire to it, with the already existing ground for the battery hooked up. Use that wire I hook up to it as the ground also for my amp. Is that possible or not?

Grounding your amp to your battery is the best one you can do IIRC.

The longer the ground the less transfer potential though right?? So if you have the battery under the hood thats a looong ground wire

id go direct to the ground but the negative terminal is ok too

It doesn't matter, all of the grounds are connected to eachother. No matter where you ground it it's still getting grounded.

Well the only sources in the vehicle are the battery and the alternator so grounding to the chassis is simply a round-about way of grounding to those. If the battery is close, ground straight to the terminal, I would consider that optimal provided that battery has a good ground connection to the alternator.
