Gross vs net volume?

I am designing and building a box for a friend that will hold 8 12's, anyway this may sound like a noob question but i am aiming for about 2 cubes per sub right now my current box design has a gross volume of about 18.06 and after all of my port displacement and sub displacement I have only 14.68 net volume. My question is will this box be fine or will it be to small.

He bought all the subs for 400 dollars from sonic during there black Friday sale that was about 50% off it's about 800 dollars worth of subs so I said hay let's see if we can get 50's with a bunch of cheap subs on a lil over 2k lol. The current box design has all the walls doubled up tuned to 30 with about 156 inches^2 of port area.

What subs?

What I seem to be coming up with is about 1.835 cubes per sub. Witch is a little on the small side.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
