Grand Cherokee Alt. ?

Ok, my Alt. is a stock 90A. im getting a little voltage drop along with minor light dimming at night, nothing too crazy. my set-up is in my Sig.

my Question is, would upgrading to the 136A stock Alt. for the 5.9 Jeep engine make a noticeable difference? The Alt will bolt right in and work just fine not a problem.

if you were stuck in a 50ft hole and i threw you 25ft of rope that wouldnt hurt either because its better than no rope, but it still wouldnt get you out of the hole.. lol so in your opinion or first hand knowledge would 46 more amps make much of a change or am i going to be back at square one? i only ask because for the price of a rebuilt 136a alt is 75$ shipped. pretty cheap compaired to 300$ for a 200a alt that may need mod's to fit the engine.

46 amps? Yeah, it'll make a LOT of difference over it. If you only have some slight dimming problems now, then it'll fix it all just fine. You could probably manage around 1000-1100 watts off the stock alt, but you're running 1500. The 136 amp alt could fairly easily manage 1600 or so.

sweet, thanks for the straight forward answer. at least now i have some sort of idea behind the wattage to amp ratio. i'll probably upgrade my battery too. not a deep cycle just the biggest option for a direct fit replacement, think it's 800cca, 1000ca.
