I like that the ending was not a cliche. Everybody has seen the spaghetti westerns and the dirty harry movies and probably was expecting a certain type of movie when they saw him advertised as playing that type of character again. A lesser director would have just taken the easy way out, played it safe, and given people what they expected.

bingo. But it wasn't a twist...like in some movies...It was the development of the character...and moreover justifiable.

Great movie...great storytelling.
