Meh...
I guess I got spoiled with over the air HD. The SD channels look crappy for sure. HD channels look OK but not like over the air. The neat thing about this is the fact that you can record shows in HD. The process is quite easy, just browse the guide and when you fin something that you want to watch later just press the R button. Thats IT! DTS audio is pretty much standard on most HD channels. Click here to see all the HD channels as of today. They are adding more until the end of the year. HUGE 36 inch dish dominates the landscape. The HD DVR receiver gets HOT! (like I need more heat in my AV cabinet, Sheesh!) and the annoying bright blue ring of light on the front of the box which you cannot dim. Gonna hafta get some window tint!
Also you can pause live TV for up to 90 minutes. Fast forward, rewind and slow motion are all available for the 90 minute block. Pretty neat.
Price: HD DVR receiver 300 bones minus a 100 dollar rebate = 200 out of pocket, 64.99 for four months and 69.99 there after for the Ultimate HD & DVR package. A bit steep if you ask me BUT my other half is footin' the bill so ...meh
