Got a "windows defender" program/virus thats owning my pc, how to remove??

Good luck. I dealt with that on a computer last week and it was easier to reformat the computer. Even after deleting the offending processes, traffic was still being rerouted to Germany. It attached itself to explorer.exe and other system processes, so it wasn't even worth trying to get rid of. Just reformat.
this... save anything you don't have copies of as it doesn't attach to everything.. just the main properties..

i just had that and got rid of it, i used this program and its been working fine ever since.http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php
Most windows defenders block you from going to this website / running the .exe

Download it on a seperate computer and rename the .exe to somethingelse.exe or whatever. Then it will install, might be able to remove it but chances are a reformat is best.

NEVER do a format unless you have exhausted all other possibilities.
Why not? Backup your documents, format the hard drive and reinstall windows. It's easier than tracing down registry problems.

if you "do this for a living" you should realize that very rarely do people actually have programs that can't be reinstalled. And with the wonderous driver library included with Windows 7 it makes reinstallation a breeze.

I can backup all data, format a hard drive and reinstall windows on 5 machines in an afternoon, whereas I could spend a day tracing down all the registry problems.... It's just a simpler, more reliable solution.

Unless you have some sort of government software solution that takes forever to reinstall, there is nothing wrong with reinstalling windows.

have the same shit[virus] on the work desktop. been logged in for a while but not using the computer and 15 windows have opened within the last 30 mins all **** and erectile disfunction ads. (world famous)bang bros is what's on the screen now, and all i did was log in. I'VE NEVER searched for **** on the work equipment but i have a pretty good idea who has if this is the cause of the virus.

Now it has opened *****.org...16 windows and counting. can't wait to see the look when the site manager comes in;lulz. where did this virus come from?

Finding a registry error is very simple if you know what your doing and takes 5-10 minutes tops.

If your installation disc has any scratches or scuffs it adds to the length it takes to install and compromises the install. Those scratches could render some very critical files useless such as the MBR or boot.ini.

Registry error = 10 minutes tops

Wasting an entire day downloading and installing and configuring all your software to the way it used to be before the virus = way longer than 10 minutes.

The easiest way is to browse wisely and pay for a good AV. If you cant do that and protect yourself then I have no pity.

The OP has been given very specific instructions via PM by me. If he cant get it removed with the instructions and programs I gave him then he shouldnt be using a computer to begin with.
