I have that same receiver, its not, my only complaints are lack of features, like seperate bass/treble controls and I don't believe it is quite 100 w X 5 channels even on the main left and right channels, but when you crank it, it plays loud and clear.

I'm running 20 year old Boston Acoustics 2 way floor speakers with 8"woofer and 1" silk tweeters and a Klipsch 5 1/4" MTM center channel speaker. No rear speakers at the moment.

My sub is a 150 watt Dayton 12" powered sub. The setup sounds great.

I don't think that you will be happy with using a passive subwoofer powered by the receiver, I did that with a JBL 8" sub w/ no amp that I got for $10 and it was fair sounding/volume at best.

Well i just want to run 2 speakers to go in the corner of the room by the tv. And then somehow run my sub off of it. Im running the sub now with some shitty old sony reciever thats like 3 ft tall and it sounds good turned down low but at high volumes it doesnthave the right power i believe
