googles new G1 cell phone $179

Depends where you live and where you go. Where I go, t-mobile works. Since I only use the "phone" part, downloading, internet, etc don't mean anything to me.
Out here T-Moble only works on the major freeways. if you get up into the mountains you don't have any bars. And as far as data goes, their network is a joke.

Here's another reason they ****. They just spammed me.

Old news. I would wait. Android is missing a lot of stuff (music player, video player, etc.) that is pretty essential on this kind of phone. Google seems to think that since Android is an open-source OS, they can rely on the developer community to supply all the bells and whistles rather than doing the work themselves. It lacks the attention to detail of the iPhone, which is its chief competitor. Plus, customer service is going to be a nightmare (do you talk to TM, HTC, or Google for your problems?). Updates may be hard to come by (IIRC, G-mail is still in beta for christ's sake).

Then there's the fact that T-Mobile sucks. Coverage is horrible most places, and unavailable in a lot. Their 3G network is so infantile that it is going to be a pain to use Android's internet capabilities.

Not to mention the device itself looks cheap and ugly. I would at least wait until they release it on something from HTC's Touch line.

For my money, I'd still get the iPhone for the extra $20 unless you're on contract with T Mobile already.

Yeah I know but Im an Apple hater //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
And I'm a bit of a fanboy to tell the truth. I would love to fet at that Samsung, but I am really not a fan of Windows Mobile. My sister had a phone with WM on it and I hated it, and that seems to be the consensus with a lot of people.

Although, I do hate how Apple puts so many restrictions on developers. I don't really feel like hacking my phone to get all the cool stuff I want.

Now the iPhone, with double the capacity, with Bootcamp so I can have Apple's OS AND Android (once they get the bugs worked out). Heaven.
