Good PS2 RPG worth buying

lol MGS is not an RPG.

No? Is it classified as a 3rd person shooter, then?

What exactly defines an RPG, anyway?

Earthbound for SNES is one of my favorite RPG's of all time, followed closely by Zelda: A Link to the Past.

Even though they're not for PS2 I think they are worth mentioning as quality RPG's.

I wanted FF 7 but they didn't have it. I remember spending days on that game when I was younger. I got the gold chocobo, knights of the round materia, and all that.

and beating those emerald and ruby weapon mother ****ers and what not... u could spend soo much time on this game

oh and to help this thread.. a few really good old school PS1 rpgs are: Breath Of Fire 3, Xenogears, Chrono Cross (aka chrono trigger 2)

a good game that has a little rpg and good sword combat is shadow of rome. When you unlock the battles later then it gets even better. It is as close to an RPG game i can get because of the giant halbreds cuttin heads off. Turn based combat is something i cant deal with

I never did beat them..Beat Sephorith, but never those dam weapons.

I truthfully got bored with Final Fantasy around 10. I tried liking it and 12. Just wasn't feeling it.

Kingdom Hearts, if you can get past the fact it has Disney characters and humor, is **** fun.

Final Fantasy 6-9 were fan-****ingtastic. Each one. Come to think of it, my discs are original, but the case is greatest hits. I think my friend and I got them mixed up in middle school. I should gank his case sometime.

Look into Shadow Hearts. My friends played the hell out of it when they had it for PS2. Fun story and gameplay, cool characters.

Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance if you have a friend to hack'n'slash levels.

chrono cross/chrono trigger. Lunar: Silver star story and Lunar 2: Eternal blue (all 4 are fscking EPIC RPG's). best ones ive ever played.

Lunar 1 & 2 are 2D SNES PS remakes, i love the old school sprites.

I have played 5:15 so far in FF12. And I am not even level 10 yet..lol..

It is a lot more story line/slower paced than the older FF games.

It is alright though.
