My local audio shop wants to charge me $290 for their newest model Memphis 15" M3.

The guy I was talking to today said that the M3 will take all of my Crossfire VR1000D without any problems at all. I know the price is up there more than what I could get it for off of the internet, but with that purchase locally I get a 3 year warranty against any kind of problem I run into with it, with the exception of physical abuse.

Thoughts? Thanks.

yeah, that warranty basically means manufactures defects...thats it. Lets say the coil goes bad in 2 days, they'll just say that its physical abuse...
or let the shop set his gains //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif thats wat i used to do so i could put it on them if somthin went wrong lol

I don't think they're shop runs like that though. A buddy of mine who got an M3 12 from there blew a coil and they didn't ask any questions, took the sub out, and put a brand new one in there for free of charge.

If I end up buying it, should I let them set em?

yeah, had a bad coil from the start...shop hooked it up and all. Couple days later it stopped working all together, so i pulled it out and hooked up just one coil, one worked and one didnt. So he said screw it and we hooked up just the one coil until it finally died

So now I have on my mind that M3 for $290 w/ a 3 year warranty, and two used RE SE 15's for $230 + $50 for the fuel to go pick them up w/ no warranty......help

Memphis is actually pretty good about their warranties as far as I know. However, you get what you pay for with any company that does over the counter exchange. You can always tell them to lower the price to stay relatively competitive with the online pricing. Most shops will do that.

Honestly, it's pretty hard to blow up a sub...and typically, it's due to voltage issues with the electrical system....in other words...not having enough juice for the amp.

Yes.

Because if they don't have an Oscope, you can hold them responsible for a reasonable amount of time.

But get it written down that they're doing it, and try to get them to write down that they'll cover it.

Thanks for the advice. I do have another question tho...howcome I don't pick up a significant increase from my sub when my volumes beween about 17-30, but when you get from 31-35 (35 being all the way up) it gets crazy loud? Kinda confuses me I guess

That is a little odd. It might be your headunit. What I would do is measure the ac voltage from your headunit at those volumes and record them down. Make sure you disconnect the speakers.
