good bench test power supply ???

what are some of the the good power supplies out there that i can get a good bench test some amps i intend on repairing ?the one i am working on right now is only a 400 watt amp but later i intend on working on some more powerful ones

Computer power supplies work for small amps...You'll spend some cash to benchtest larger amps.

i have some sitting around the house . can't the ac power damage it ? thought it was meant for dc

Computer power supplies convert AC to 3+/3-, 5+/5-, and 12+/12- volts DC. They are good for low power applications though...

Thermaltake makes a good one that can supply up to 160amps for a decent price. Silverstone makes one in same $$ range that can supply 175amps

Thermaltake Toughpower XT 775W would that one be a good supply and how many amps would it put out ?

If you're serious about repairing amplifiers or you're going to repairing anything of decent size forget the PC power supplies. You'll never get more than 40-50A out of one and by the time you get one that size it will cost close to what a decent 12V supply will.

Some of your questions make me wonder if you have the skills required to repair amplifiers in the first place...
