which option is better for my two speakers:

-a two channel amp powering 190W RMS x2 @ 2 ohms

or

-a four channel amp powering 250W RMS x2 @ 2 ohms (bridged)

i want to know which is better in terms of power, quality, and amp/speakers damage..

two channel model is: pioneer GM-5500T

four channel model is: pioneer GM-D8604

thanks!!!

(I have an alpine CDE-HD138BT HU if this helps..)

oh ok... well as you can see I´m totally new a this...I´ve read that having more watts going to the speaker than what the speaker is rated is better...

in your opinion how many watts in the amp will be the best for my speakers (I know there are some other factors to consider, thought..)

The 4 channel amp gives 150 watts if its not bridged...

Thanks!

The first part is true, mainly so that you can send clean power to the speakers without clipping the amp, pending your source music being clean as well.

I think that either amp will do perfectly fine, however I would say that powering up just a set of 6x9's with an amp may not net you the sound you want. Are the 6x9's in the front or rear of the car?

They are in the rear powered by a ****** amp.

I have also two 6 1/2 connected to the HU.

And a 12" sub powered by another ****** amp. I bought these two used amps momentarily until I save more money. They are old and have lots of issues.

I was thinking on buying the 4 channel amp, so I can give the 6x9´s 150W RMS and also connect the front speakers or the sub to it, (but I wanted to be sure that the 150W RMS powering the 6x9´s are enough, or if it would be preferable to give them 190W RMS, or the bridged 250W RMS.)
