going from 2 12's to 1 15 or 18?

questions for you guys. i have 2 alpine type r's right now in a 4 cube box. it just takes up basically my whole extended cab of my truck. what would you recommend for a single 15 or 18 that can be put in a 2-3 cube box that will be loud ported? i have 1200 watts to watts to work with at 1 ohm. i just need to free up some space back there. also i would like something to get as loud as those type r's if possible

type r's are pretty good subs .. those might be your best bet... but i do have a soundstream splx for sale. takes 1000 wrms daily. d2 coils. brand new. $190 shipped

that is what i am wondering just deal with that big *** box? i mean those r's a really loud. just wondering if i can get a 15 to be just as loud but in a smaller box

you are gonna need about 4 cuft for a 15 or 18 that takes 1000wrms. just stick with the 2 12s

Try getting a more powerful amp and maybe a different box designed for more handling to get the most out of your type r's

alright thanks guys, that is what i figured. just seeing if there are any other options. i was thinking about getting a bigger amp though

you could do 1 15 in 3.5cf. i dunno why you are even considering 1 18? just get a type r 15 in 3.5cf tuned to like 37hz and if its not loud enough get more power. but i think 1200w on a type r 15 should be plenty

If you plan to go to a single 15 or 18 ported chances are you will be going to a bigger box. I would maybe invest in a single 12 and eventually add more power to it. My single 3512 in my car running off a 1501D at 1ohm is plenty loud for me. So yea, if you want a smaller box all you can really do is look into a single high powered 10 or 12.

my box is 4 cube tuned to 35 hz. i mean it sounds great and **** loud on all kinds of music. i just don't know what could be better.vitveet built it. well anyway i may just keep them and get a bigger amp. thanks you guys

I like the single Type R 15's more than I do 2 Type R 12's.
