well im half deaf in my left ear so my right ear over compensates to make up for it.....when i went to ultimate electronics i had my own disk of different types of music i listen to and had them hook a cd player up and about 4 of the most common brands i was thinking about....2 diff. sets of boston accoustics(one 2 way and one 3 way system); fosgate fanatic x or p not sure which; and the alpine type r's......while all of them sounded good on the middrange and mid bass the fosgates killed the others....but im a sq junkie so i gotta have the highs sound good and not hurt my ears at high volume and the other 3 sets tended to be a bit to bright for my taste......kinda left a little twinge of sharpness w/ the highs....the alpines actually sounded great imo....quite loud but not to bright on the highs......if the fosgates werent to bright i'd had went w/ them....alpines were not the best for the midbass.....so thats why i prefer them...they sound good to me....heh...i'd recomend everyone do a similar test when choosing comps.....

the type r comps have tweeter attenuation, tha makes a difference when you can turn the tweets down....
