I'm not sure if it's my seats or something else, but everytime i get out of my car and touch the door i get shocked so bad. ALWAYS on my right index finger as i grab the door to close it. My seats are like that cloth carpet material, and it's annoying as hell.

Anyone ever had this problem? Seat cover?

Static strip works for some people. "Anti-static Strap" or whatever the hell they're called.

Little black rubber(?) thing that hangs down from the back of the vehicle and touches the ground.

happens to me all the time when i get outta the car is just beacuse you are standing on the ground and touching the car. try touching a peice of metal before you hit the ground and it doesnt happen

Its just static electricity caused by the friction between your clothes and the material of your seats. Mine can get so bad that it shocks me through a leather coat with a liner.

They have proven that the static build up has caused a few fires at the fuel pumps like mattf was talking about. Its more prominent with women since thay have a tendancy to start pumping gas and then get back into the car. When they get out, they've built up enough static to produce a spark the first time the come in contact with metal. That metal is usually the pump handle and since the fumes are being pushed out of the tank by fuel entering it... BOOM.

You might try taking a fabric softener sheet and rubing it all over the seat. It keeps the static cling down in your clothes, so it should work on the seats too...

I had the same problem in my Tahoe. If you have seat covers, take a few drier sheets and put them between the seat and the cover. This works wonders on static electricity and makes your ride smell a little better too.
