C0CK,its whats for dinner
Okay, as some of you know, I hit a pothole and cracked a rim a while back. Well I have not yet fixed that rim, need to go to Miami to get it fixed...

Anyways, today I was going to my friends house to take out my subs and put it in Dreadnaut (//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif)... Well there was a red light, so I took a little short cut through a shopping center. I just moved back to this city (havent driven through that plaza in a while), and I see, what looks like, a puddle of water... Well I continue to drive and *BAM*, twas a pothole. CD skipped and all, thats how hard I hit it... So I continue to turn onto the road I was on, and I feel a bumpy *** ride. I turn back into the shopping plaza and look at my tires. I notice one is flat... So I call my brother and ask him to bring one of my stock tires (I am only about 5 minutes from my house.) He brings it, I change the tires, and proceed to my friends house to do the project at hand (I need to get my subs out to mail them to complete the trade.) So I get to my buddys house and take a look at the rim, it is thankfully just a bend. I spend about an hour pounding out the rim, filling it up, pounding it, filling it up... So it finally makes a seal and I am SO happy. Then I noticed the back tire on the same side seems to be low, not flat, just low. So I go to fill it up and it wont fill up. I take a look at the back of it and what do ya know, it is bent as well. I had to be at a Face It class at 6pm (legal thing), so I didnt have time to fix it...

Thats my crappy story, had to leave my car at his house and will get it tomorrow, I will fix the rim and throw in the Dreadnaut tomorrow as well. Sucked balls guys, I am considering stock rims //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Also, the kids brother said that his friend cracked a rim on a pothole, called the city, and they reimbersed him a couple hundred buck for the repair. I do not know of any truth to that, anyone know if that is worth a phone call? I was thinking of saying that when I hit the pothole my rim cracked (and show them the cracked rim I have from before), so maybe I wont have to cough up $150 to get it fixed...

dont waste your money getting that crack fixed...im being serious, save yourself the time, money, and plenty of aggrevation and get another rim.

that rim will never be perfectly round again, and it'll crack over and over again.

They dont make the rims anymore, the crack is maybe a 1/2 mm in width, and a half inch in length. The rim is still round... If it cracks again, then I will have it fixed and sell the set. I really like these rims though, so I do not want to get rid of them.

Good job reading the thread buddy... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif

But I noticed in your sig that you will buy old Thunder 4000's, I have a pair of 12's if you are interested.. LMK

pics of the car?

what series tires were you running?

i had problems with the lip of the rim bending on my caprice and letting air out ( 18's)..happened several time..though it only cost $10 to get it fixed up by me..

Now with the 20's on the marquis i've only had 1 problem and i pounded it back in my self...even with the lower profile tires i've still had less problems, and i am not nearly as careful of rr crossing and such... i still have to be on my feet but just not paranoid

The car is a 1998 Buick Century. Here is a picture:

The tires are 255/35, and they are Z rated.

i also agree, buy a new set of rims. Even if they don;t make them anymore, get them fixed, and sell them, use that money on a new set of rims.

Had that MOFO metered?

Hows it sound? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

If all it will cost you to find out is a local phone call then I can't see where it wouldn't be worth it. If they tell you they're not going to help you then what have you lost?

Nothing.

But if they are willing to help you with the expense then certainly that was worth a phone call!

It's been years ago but a buddy of mine went to our local vocational school to take auto mechanics. Four years later he was an ASE-certified Master Mechanic...his project while he was in school was an '80 Camaro that he turned from a complete, total, utter POS into a Z28 clone but with considerably tougher running gear than Chevy offered that year for the 'Maro.

Less than a month after he got the car completed and on the road (this included a complete body/paintjob and a fresh set of Goodyear Eagle GTs on some OEM Z28 rims) he came across a monster of a pothole that cut his tire and bent his passenger-front rim to shit.

He called the city and discussed what had happened with whoever answered the phone. Before the conversation was over they asked him for a ballpark figure of what it would cost to replace both the tire and the wheel - the next day they Next Day Express-ed him a check. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

If its cracked, it isnt round anymore..and it NEVER will be. Trust me, sell them and get another set.
