Hello. I'm no expert by any means for installing car stereos but I don't consider myself a newbie either. I installed a pioneer headunit (avhp4000-dvd) into my ford mustang with ease. I sold the mustang and bought a 2005 GMC Sierra and now I want to install it in that. I bought metra parts 71-2003-1 which is a GMC full pin and I also bought the metra pioneer to universal harness. The problem is I can not figure out which wires to connect. When I installed it in my mustang it was very easy because the cables were labeled and I could easily match them up. When I look at the diagram on the GMC harness, it says for example, Left Rear + is supposed to be Brown, but when I look at the cables themselves, Left rear + is actually a green color. Only half the cables are labeled on the wires themselves and my guide many things conflict, so I don't know which to follow. Obviously I would go off of the wires themselves but only some of them are labeled so I don't know which ones to connect. Here is a link to the GMC Harness I bought, Metra Online | Metra Part # 71-2003-1 | OEM wire harness . According to Metra Online, this wiring harness is for GMCs 98-08, but when I look at the little insert they gave me with the harness, it says it's for year 2000 and up. But the model number is the same. I think it's possible maybe they put in an old slip or something because none of the colors are correct and don't even make sense. I don't even have a brown cable but yet it says it goes to one of my speakers :-/ Please help!
Thanks in advance,
George
