GM Employer Discount

IIRC (might not be), it's basically a non-negotiable price that's just above what it's costing the dealers to put the cars on the lot on the first place...so you're not really saving anything (you could have negotiated the price down to the "employee discounted" rate anyway) but they're selling like mad because it appears to be vastly cheaper...

Again, I might not have the best understanding how it works, if I'm wrong someone please correct me.

You still got a lot of the MSRP, either way the market is good to buy a car. Everyone is trying to get their stuff of the lot and make way for the new stuff.

the employee discount isn't really that great. you only get a thousand or two off. i get discounts on ford and GM and trust me both of those companies i promise you are making decent profits even on the discount. also i don't think it's fair to the people who work for gm, when everyone gets a discount.

it is a scam. employees get way better discounts, i know a family who gets them dirt cheap and the dad who works for GM isn't even big dick status

It's not a scam tard. Employees still get better discounts on pep cars and shit. Right now gm is just giving them the same % off that they give employees, my dad, and four uncles work for gm.

And since General Motors started the ad campaign regarding the "Employee Discount" almost every other major manufacturer has jumped on the bandwagon. Anyone seen the commercials for the 'Ford Family Plan' or whatever they're calling it? I think I caught the tailend of a Toyota ad claiming the same savings. Might have misunderstood it, though...

O/T

lostsoul? How's that Colorado working out for you?

The plant where those are built is here in my hometown. I have a friend who is in the millwright union and works out there. A few weeks before the Colorado/Canyon were released for sale to the general public he happened to walk by a bunch of GM techs running a Colorado on a dyno. WOT it was making about 1/2 the claimed output. When my buddy looked at the display on the dyno and saw that the HP readings being shown were considerably lower than what they should have been he asked what was wrong with the truck. The techs shrugged at him and said something to the effect of "We have no freggin' idea."

Yeah it's not a scam dude. My whole family is in the car business. Dad, uncles, grandpa... It's for real, a lot of people that sell cars are actually pissed about it...

Open a Sunday paper in any city and you will see GMC Denali XLs advertised for $11,000 off MSRP.

GM vehicles are priced way too high at MSRP, and rebates and discounts are the only way to move them.

Two things can come of this.

1) GM can reduce the MSRPs and sell vehicles at the actual market value.

2) Build future vehicles that are desirable enough at the MSRP. (CTS-V and Solstice)

it might be a good deal but it is still high. ON some of the cars that i am intrested in. but i will wait alittle like i said before and see what kinda deal mopar comes up with and then get me something

Its the actual GM employee discount from what I have taken.

It does not apply to the vette,or GTO, however.

It is an incredible deal for some stuff. I know one person saved about 12k off a new truck he bought.

I don't think you can negotiate the 5-10k people are saving from this stuff. Some of the new trucks have insane discounts you can get off them.

Basically, GM's new line didnt come out,so they fell behind, and now to make business, they did this. Their sales went up 41% the first month they did this, too.
