Gm 12 bolt or Ford 9"...which one!?!?!

hey, im gonna be swapping the 7.5in rear end in my regal. i was wondering if anyone had any advice on which rear end i shoudl go with. i wanna keep my car all GM but ive heard the 9" is stronger...but then again a stock 12 bolt will handle 500 hp and i wont be near that...

20lbs is alot man...were spending like 3k to save like 120lbs, lol...if youre not planning on running more power than the rear end can handle...dont worry about it...

he's right thats the main reason a lotta drag racers use the ford quick change, its often referred to as a dropout because the cluster really does come out quite easy

I have a 12 bolt in my Gbody,its great for up to 1200 HP with the right components

Getting the correct control arms for the swap is tough unless you mod your own since SSM is now out of biz...

Goto Maliburacing.com,they have a great forum and this topic has been discussed a million times.... If i had to do it again I would buy a 9" though,its stronger,has better gear selections and offers stronger aftermarket parts and centersections.

12 bolt FTW very strong readends , a 9" most likey isnt nessacery,but u said u have a 7.5...10 bolt right,I know how to build them to handle power ,the 10 bolt will work for u as long as u are using a automatic PM me if u want the part numbers and what not to trick out that 7.5

I'd say go with the 12 bolt but it really depends on your setup and what you plan on doing. What kinda ****** are you running? How sticky are the tires gonna be? ex. street tires or drag radials? How hard will you be launching the car if racing it at all?

If your running a manual and slicks, I would run the 9, but if not I would use the 12bolt.

I like the 12 bolt since it's lighter IMO. You shouldn't have to worry about them not being able to handle power, I know guys with over 800RWHP with 12 bolts and slicks and they handle it just fine.
