Glassing kicks

I had WTB thread started for some Q-Logic kicks. It was suggested that I simply build my own. I have a basic idea of how this is done but I want to run it past people that have done it to make sure I've got it right. Also how much would a project like this cost me? can I get all the materials from wal-mart and such?

First I would cut the kick panel from the part that runs along the bottom of the door, leaving me with just the part where speakers would be. Then make MDF rings and use dowel rods and hot glue to hold them in place aimed where I want them. Wrap it in fleece and staple it down. Then actually glass it. Would i need any layers of chop mat then or would that be enough? Then you sand bondo sand and paint right?
