gf's computer is messed up..

shes got a laptop and something popped up saying a virus is attacking your computer but blah blah blocked it. and then 20-30 mins after that it went to a black screen but as she dragged her mouse across her screen her icons on her desktop started popping up. so she decided to shut her computer down and now when she turned it back on its just a black screen with a cursor. its got windows vista. any ideas?

No idea on the problem though. When I can't even get the computer booted up, I just take it to the shop.

nah the only websites she/we visit on her computer is like myspace, facebook, etc..she did download one song tonight though..maybe a virus was attached to it?

Probably. If you can get that song deleted, that would be a good start, though it's probably spread itself already.

I've downloaded viruses from myspace. if you can get into windows then your not totally screwed. run adaware spybot and avg free. if it infected your boot sector then you'll need to wipe the hdd's and start fresh... you probably won't need all that. mae sure you backup anything important asap tho

is it a pirated copy of vista? I read that people have been getting the black screen of death on vista, but most were pirated copies.

try to boot in safe mode than delete the most recent things youve downloaded. run anti virus and clean out the shit as much as you can in safe mode before the compturns off.ive had to do this numerous times for friends and family who have no computing sills and i get em running again that day.

myspace has infected quiet a few computers,I had to deal with 3 known computers that were ok until they went on myspace and they started to have problems,once I got them cleaned upthey were ok again,can you start her computer in safe-mode? to do this turn on computer when you hear the first beep press F8 this should bring up the Safe-Mode screen,from there if you have a Anti-Virus program run it and let it find the virus. Or you can take it to a shop and let them clean it.

x2 thats becuase you have people on there that have no kind of virus protection and no kind of spyware protection, ***** to the world.

Try dragging the cursor to the upper right corner of the screen. A close box might appear. I had something like that happen to my computer. Couldn't get my desktop screen back. Some stupid virus message. Then I accidentally found the hidden check box. Pissed me off.
