a few years ago i went down to get some car insurance. i told them i was going to be buying some car audio stuff and i wanted my insurance to cover. they said ok. i started paying the bill.

i put about $2000 worth of audio in my car, kept all my reciepts.

then a few years go by and my car catches on fire while im driving it, i pull over, my entire car burns up, stereo and all.

so my dad and i go down to get my insurance check. i showed them my car audio reciepts and they say, we usually only give customers $100 if they have a custom stereo. WHAT!!!! well give you $250. im now fukin pissed. i tell them i had full coverage, they dont care. as the lady walks away to get my check, i look over at my dad and say loudly, its a good thing youre a lawyer, (he isnt) we both laugh

the lady comes back and says with a SMILE, good news, a new policy is starting today and youll get your $2000 for your car audio stuff plus money for your car.

my dad and i got the check and walked away very quickly to the bank

get it in writing and keep your reciepts!!!!!

From the stereo install, or something else?

Did you have a fuse within a foot or two of the battery?

And cappy - please, check the image's length before you post it as your sig //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Sounds like your voltage regulator went bad, or you had a hydrogen leak...batteries generally don't blow up by themselves; a too-high charge voltage would have sent the battery spiraling upwards in temperature and current until it caught fire. Likewise, leaking hydrogen gas in the presence of high current is not good either.

The best thing to do is to give them a copy of the receipt and pictures to be put on file and make then sign a waiver saying they accepted it, not to mention ask for official confirmation that your stuff is covered.

I am supposed to do it, I never have because I live in a very safe area.
