Germaniums, not the rainbow germs.

posted a week or so ago in the ht section that i found an old onkyo receiver

it claims 40w per channel from 4 germanium transistors.

now my friend tells me they were only designed to run on one voltage

and we say some germaniums at radioshack that claimed 115w

now what i need to know is is that statement true?

that you could just buy any germanium transistor and it would work?

or is he completely wrong.

this is for a home amp.

there is no action in the home audio section

so this would be the right section.
