Gasoline smell??

I own a '92 S10 Blazer which I've had for a long time now. Every time I fill up the gas tank completely full, I can smell gas, inside and outside. The smell dissapears when my gas meter goes down a bit. Hope someone can give me ideas as to whats causing this. I don't think I have a gas leak somewhere.

Sounds like you have a leak on the top side of your tank. So everytime you fill up theres your leak.....Get it smoked tested by a local shop. Or you can look up underneath your s10 and look for any wet spots around the tank area.

Maybe the seal that is on the fuel pump access.

You may have a small hole somewhere in the tank that is allowing fumes to excape

A lot of 'older' cars will do this...

Your tank/fill neck has a breather on it, because with heat, the gas expands. With the tank being full, and you driving around and the truck bumping around, it's most likely splashing around and some is getting out of the breather.

Try not filling it up all the way--quit with about 2 gallons of room left and see what happens.

Correct me If Im wrong. But from my understanding. This is a seal EVAP system.Could off on year .So no gas vapors can exscape. If his fuel can easly be slashed around then he be setting evap codes like crazy....

Id say SMOKE TEST this b@tch and be done with it. Easy test to see if there is a leak. Most likely you have a bad seal around the Fuel pump. Or Good for this to. Metal line are rusted so bad its leaking throw them....Im betting on the bad seal around the pump been that you only get it when tank is filled up.
