I'm trying to find something I can use as a gasket with my rainbows so they don't vibrate on the metal they're mounted to.

Can I use sound deadening materials as a gasket? I am going to order a couple door kits from SecondSkin to deaden where the speakers are mounted, but I didn't know if the deadening can also be used as a gasket.

Thanks!

No room for an mdf baffle //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif I need something thin. I'm going to deaden the speaker location anyway, I was just wondering if the deadener would work as a gasket too.

Or rope caulk from Home Depot or any building supply type store. A lot like modeling clay, but a little heavier, doesn't get so soft/mushy. Like $5 for a box that will last forever. You'll find it in the weatherstripping section.

I use Foam weather striping.. sticky on one side & Foam on the other..

Wont get nasty & make a mess.. Will work & seel real nice like & kill the rattle sound..

Peace Troy

awesome I will have to go check out the rope caulk and weather stripping! I've used weather stripping once in my old apartment and it peeled off paint when I took it off! lol I don't know if I want that in my car.

I picked up some rope caulk today, **** that stuff works wonders. I got 6 90' pieces for under $5 and it sealed the Rainbows up nicely //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Now I just need to get the deadening on and I'll be set //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Thanks for the tip!

Yeah man, love the high temp strip caulk.Makes the best seal and solidifies that area of the baffle because of its mass, peals right up no mess.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Yup! And its very flexible/smashable. You can get a perfect seal with it. That stuff is awesome //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Now I really need to order the deadener!!
