I believe greedy oil companies have more to do with this than anything, though Bush does not probably cause this directly he has a shitload of money invested in oil so he is loving it and probably just letting it happen.
as crappy as bush is, you're right. the day the president starts controlling prices in a free market society is the day we no longer have a president. we'd have a king.

i live in the oaklawn, IL area, and its 3.69 today. filled up $59 in a 98 lumina. How sad.........whats even saddder is that it was unleaded

Yea! Or we should just stick together and look out for our rights as consumers...one way to do that is not buy gas for a day!!!//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/hide.gif.2d479cfd917eedfe201353b91522ceab.gif
They just did that and it didn't work... at all.

May 15 was a gay-skip day. Gas didn't change near my house, not even a penny.

Honestly, as consumers, we have little to no rights. Sure, we can change the supply-and-demand whole deal, but honestly,

1) there's no way we can get everyone to work together in one party's favor, and

2) even if everyone in the world skipped getting gas one day, and I mean EVERYONE, gas prices might lower, until the next day when, instead of x amount of people buying gas like on a normal day, you have 2x or 3x or however many times the amount of people who didn't buy gas yesterday buying that day, so gas prices would quickly rise again. The only way to get them to lower prices permanently is to simply reduce everyone's driving amount PERMANENTLY. Then demand will go down, so supply will go up, and the S-D ratio will go up, and prices will fall.

that "May 15" day is bullsh!t

if everyone didn't pump that day, that means everyone payed the day before or the day after, which makes up for the loss on the 15th..... Even if this wasnt the case- by the time the oil companies realized that no business was made on the 15th, they would have already made their profit the day after, when everyone needs to fill up. what we need to do is to avoid driving vehicles for one week. Public transportation, bike, or even walk if nearby. That will never happen because theres too many rich people out there.

Went by the gas station today and it is currently at $2.85 for regular, it's $2.82 if you use a gift card which isn't much, but every little bit helps. The sad thing is just 1 to 2 months ago gas was way under the $2.00 dollar mark.

actually two months ago, gas prices were still over 2$, atleast in chicago it is.

IL & CA seem to have it the worst, according to the newspaper

i can't even remember the last time gas was under 2.00. you sure?

I love how its always bush's fault. I am don't get me wrong, the guy is a moron, but that being said, do you really think he would even be smart enough to control the gas prices?

I say it in every single one of these threads. They produce X amount of oil a day, we use more and more and more and more and MORE.....guess what happens when you use supply and demand? supply stays the same and demand goes up....anyone of you smart guys wanna guess what happens to the price?

Skip a day is stupid, they won't even look at that, its all forcasted (even crazy *** ideas like that are figured out). Car pool, buy a motorcycle, scooter, ride the bus. Truth of it is tomorrow after you all wake up your still getting in your car and drive where ever it is you go, and your not changing that much.

In my opinion the only thing we can and should blame the president for is not pushing for reusable energy sources more quickly.

ill be different and blame it on the hippis and the sierra club

they are teh reason why we CANNOT drill or make new oil rigs un teh gulf of mexico and why we cannot drill in alaska

f*cking hippis

To an extent.....BUT.....if you weigh it out they are most likely right. I mean, really we are saying, destroy natural habitat and kill off some species so that we can drive our 12 mpg excursion a little longer.

We really are cancer.
