Gas Milage

doesnt a supercharger decrease gas milage?

how much exactly does a jet chip increase fuel economy?

does and exahst increase fuel economy..... or what about a mass air sensor?
I know and exhaust system and a air filter WILL increase mileage. A supercharger won't, and im not really sure about a chip, although i wanna say it would, depending on how it makes the computer "think."

turbo will increase the air pressure you intake. thus, since you have a higher air pressure, there will be more combustion output than what youd normally get. this means you get an increase in horsepower, so it will take less to reach certain speeds and maintain highway speeds. overall, youll get more out of your engine, but mileage wise its almost negligble. some engines, however, increase fual pressure to correspond with the added air pressure, which means you burn more gas //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif you get more horsepower, but at a price.....

a chip will tweak out your fuel/air intake/exhaust ratios, making your engine much more efficient. youll gain horsepower, and with this mod youl gain an increase in mileage. coupled with a great cold air intake system, and something like a dynomax exhaust system, youll see a vast improvement overall on your vehicle.

btw, you can either get a chip that will force the cpu to keep the fuel level the same even if you add the increased air pressure, which seems like something you want, then there are others that increase both fuel and air pressure, with or without the additional mods. best thing to do is ask a mechanic at your local dealership. just asking for advice is free, just dont let him sell you anything //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

yeh but the mechanics are idiots.....lets just say i spent 400 took it to 4 diffrent places and i stilll havent seen high output out of my high output alternator.

they have a chip out for my legend that increases gass milage and gives 20 hp that were gonna get for my friend............ Im still trying to get the downpayment and then im either getting a 4.3 voltec blazer or 5.7 voltec yukon..... and i really need and increse in gas millage

my car loves gas //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif . i dont really understand the whole better gas mileage thing. some people say a cold air intake and exhaust and other things give u better gas mileage. but others say as HP increases....the amount of gas you use increases because the more HP your engine puts out requires gas. I am almost positive that a supercharger doesn't help your gas mileage at all.

just think of it like this: the more air you get, the bigger the detonation in the chamber. engines in general are horribly inefficient (except a wankel rotary engine //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif ) this is why you see some of these hotrods with "flamethrowers" which seem to be in their exhaust. but it isnt, its actually the exhaust. all it is is a spark plug with a power wire to the battery. a typical stock engine may burn up 40-60% of the fuel injected into the chambers. adding a turbo or cold air intake allows you to burn 60-80% or even 90% (depending on the condition of the engine, distributor, wiring, injectors, plugs, and the intake and exhaust systems) this adds up to more hp, just mileage wise it all depends on you. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

for example, under normal acceleration it will take less rpm to get to 60 than without the aftermarket intake/exhaust due to more hp, so you dont burn as much gas.

but others say as HP increases....the amount of gas you use increases because the more HP your engine puts out requires gas.
of course, the bigger the block, the more hp, and the more gas it drinks. a 450 block engine will have more hp then say a civic, but thats only because it has huge chambers. but getting a bigger engine isnt the only way to get hp......

and to all you big-block lovers out there, i raced a 5.0 mustang with a turbo(actually quite similiar to my setup). the only difference was that he had a front end (chopped mine off), and he had a complete flowmaster exhaust system (which i think is the most inefficient ex system ever made IMO) and i had stock still. smoked him on start and he never even came close. i was hittin bout 8 grand on the tach for a lil bit then slowed down (not having a front end made the **** thing vibrate like a mofo) so, as with all other things, its not the size that matters its what you can do with it //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif
