All your gallbladder is, is a big bile duct. Everytime you eat your gallbladder releases bile to help you digest your food. My gallbladder has stopped releasing bile and is actually becoming enlarged due to excess bile. The excess bile is what creates the gallstones. The pain caused by the gallstones is usually just your gallbladder going into spasm trying to pass a stone. Mine is past trying to repair. The outer lining of my gallbladder is already thickening (scar tissue). Its either get rid of it now or have a full attack which will land me in the hospital for an extensive stay.
