yes, but theres no way a sperm whale could take down a squid larger than itself. squid and chaphlapods in general are vicious animals, humboldt squid regularly attack and kill sharks the same size as themselves. Either way, if a giant squid decides it wants to eat you, you = fuxed

They definitely have some of the most complex brains and complex processing. Squids can have up to a few million pigment cells in their skin, and they can control each one independently.......

One discovery channel show I was watching on killer squid said that if human's weren't on earth, squids could possibly take over the crown for most intelligent species.

The photo sequence, taken off Japan's Ogasawara Islands last September, shows the moment that one of the squid's two elongated tentacles broke off the animal (top image). The severed body part is reeled onto the research vessel in the lower photograph. The researchers captured more than 500 photographs of the giant squid before its tentacle broke off and it swam away.

I recall on one show where they were saying the only reason they have't taken over the world is their short lifespan.
